Greetings fellow DesArters, and welcome to my little oasis. I’m Texas-born, Brooklyn-based creative aleXander-Reh. The DesArt is a gallery with which to share my pursuits in Constructive Witticism, the use of humor to test the limits between feasibility and absurdity, and I travel that blurred line on a winding stream of lateral thought. More on Constructive Witticism in the Theory section.

This is not my day job (yet), more of my Sunday Shop. During the week I work for both big and small brands running the creative side for branding, packaging, VIS ID, installations, and much more. You can see that portfolio on shelf in every grocery store. If you require such a creative mercenary, feel free to reach out.

My Grandfather, Alphonse “Ak-Ak” Kanusas used to run a little shop called the Pic N’ Holler in a Houston flea market (pictured below). He sold guitars (or as he called them, git-tars), antiques, and whatever the hell he felt like. Al also gave free serenades with his favorite git-tar at the time. “Stay loose and keep the juices flowing freely,” he used to say. That’s why I use the term Sunday Shop, because he never felt like he was working.

I’m not sure what I plan to do with this little oasis, I just plan to do it. I’m still mulling on that. I invite others to create and expand upon Constructive Witticism, and if that happens I promise to find a way to showcase it. I’m glad you’re here, and I hope you are too.

Have a wanderful and wonderful day.

X-Reh
